Grants
Meeting many needs
Do more with your money
Through MMA, you can do much more with your money. You can help fellow MMA members, congregations, and organizations in the spirit of mutual aid and shared values through the Sharing Fund and other grants. See MMA’s annual report for statistics on our annual grant program.
No job, no food, no gas
A young man walked into Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge Kan., and said he had lost his job, was out of money, had no food, and his car was out of gas – and he was unable to find work. The church helped him to purchase food and gas, plus applied for an MMA Sharing Fund grant.
A few weeks later the church’s MMA advocate delivered the Sharing Fund grant check. The young man said he had since found a good job, but he was still a week away from receiving his first paycheck, and he had again run out of food and gas. He thanked Keith over and over, saying, “Now I believe in miracles!”
Available grants
Grants for congregations
MMA’s Sharing Fund grants help you meet financial needs of individuals in your church and local community. These matching grants are available to congregations who have active MMA advocates (link) and those with historic Anabaptist roots. If your congregation has a need you think a Sharing Fund grant could help with, contact your pastor or advocate for more information.
Grants for organizations and businesses
MMA offers matching Sharing Fund grants to eligible Anabaptist-operated or -affiliated institutions and businesses to help them support employees with financial needs. Talk to your MMA group representative link for more information about eligibility.
Grants for individuals
MMA offers member benefit grants to individual MMA members. Who are MMA members? People like you who have purchased a product or service from MMA.
- MMA College Scholarship - Money awarded through a scholarship application program to help future or current college students. Find out more or apply.
- Will Preparation Benefit Grant - Partial financial reimbursement for costs you incur in having a will prepared or updated. Find out more or apply.
How grants are funded
People who buy MMA products provide financial support for the Sharing Fund and other grants. Because of the unique tax status of Mennonite Mutual Aid Association (an MMA entity), dollars we’d pay in federal taxes are instead used to fund grants. And, so MMA can provide funds for matching grants without a cost to our members.
MMA also contributes to our grant program corporately through our tithe. And, people like you donate to the fund throughout the year.
Donate to the Sharing Fund
You can support the Sharing Fund with your donations. Your contribution is fully tax deductible and is doubled by matching funds from congregations and institutions. Plus, 100 percent of your gift will be used to meet financial needs.
